There's been an explosion of interest in 60s French pop music by English-speaking artists in recent years. Rabid fans scramble through flea markets and vintage vinyl stores both in the US and abroad searching for records and memorabilia. Once overshadowed by British and American rock and roll, the rich and colorful history of the French music scene is emerging after languishing in undeserved obscurity.
Bardot A Go Go fills in the gap. This feature length documentary combines vintage television and film footage together with contemporary interviews with music fans, critics and legendary French pop figures like Françoise Hardy, Jacques Dutronc, Jane Birkin, Antoine, President Rosko and Jean-Marie Périer to celebrate the 'joie de vivre' of French pop music. Project Completion date: 2008 Format: Digital video Length: 60-90 minutes Language: English with sub-titles as necessary; Japanese sub-titled version. |
